Perry’s BackgroundAfter an initial career with a Fortune 100 company, Perry decided he’d like to teach high school students. New Jersey, where Perry was living at the time, made this possible for qualified people from non-educational backgrounds, so long as they could pass the relevant Praxis test and a background check; so, after a few months of study and passing the requirements, Perry was certified to teach high school math.
The first opportunity to use his certification was when the local high school asked him to teach an evening SAT Prep class. Perry found he could handle the verbal materials as well as the math, and he began private tutoring for the SAT and ACT early in 2002. So, 2023 is Perry’s 22nd year tutoring for these tests. He’s prepared well over 1000 students for the SAT or ACT and has seen both tests evolve to their present form. Along the way, he has added the GRE and GMAT to his practice and enjoys those due to their additional intellectual challenge. Perry and his wife relocated to North Carolina, but he continues to work with students from all parts of the US. |
SchedulingPerry tutors all the students himself, meeting Tuesdays through Saturdays for 1-hour appointments at these East Coast times:
Usually, Perry meets with students once a week for an hour. Some students meet at a consistent day/time while others schedule on a week-by-week basis as fits their schedule. Students move at their own pace. |

"Perry Youngblood delivers the results students need to get into competitive colleges. High test scores in the classroom and on standardized tests are a very real possibility if a student follows his study plan. He has helped my children perform better than they ever hoped. Perry works until the student has a strong understanding of the material which minimizes anxiety and gives confidence. Getting to work with Perry made such a difference in my children’s experiences and I am so very grateful for all of his help and support." Thank you so much for helping out C. … she works really hard, but the thing I think that has helped the most is that she seeks help when she doesn't understand something and I believe she has you to thank for that. You made tutoring a good experience for her, and she isn't intimidated to ask for clarification when she needs it! We all appreciate that and thank you! |
