Ohio  Wesleyan, in Delaware, Ohio, has 1730 undergraduate students. The college has 86 majors, including strong ones in journalism, fine arts, zoology (think Jack Hanna at the Columbus Zoo), biology/premed and cross-discipline studies. Many students double-major or take a minor.
OWU stresses ‘Learning through Practice,” incorporating lots of internships. Independent study is also supported.

All students live on campus all four years. Students hail from 44 states and 40 foreign countries. While the campus is beautiful and well-manicured, students were not at all preppy in their dress. OWU in previous years had a reputation as a party school, but reports are that they have been successful in taming the party culture. Our tour guide seemed genuinely amazed that OWU had been known as a party school.

The college’s home, Delaware, Ohio, is attractive, with 31,000 population. Horse racing is a local feature.   Columbus is about 30 minutes away.
